Risks, Problems and Processes for the Decontamination of Dental Handpieces
Andrew Smith is Professor of Clinical Bacteriology & Honorary Consultant Microbiologist for NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, Microbiology Consultant Lead for Medical Device Decontamination NHS Glasgow & Clyde (NHS GG&C), Deputy Director of the Scottish Haemophilus, Legionella, Meningococcus and Pneumococcus Reference Laboratory and Lead Consultant for Oral and Maxillofacial microbiology, NHS GG&C.
Professor Smith is also the current chair of the Association of Clinical Oral Microbiologists, UK tasked with leading infection prevention, antimicrobial stewardship and clinical training issues relating to oral and maxillofacial microbiology. He is the current treasurer of the Scottish Microbiology Association and Assistant editor of the Journal of Hospital Infection.
Professsor Andrew Smith is also Deputy Director of SHLMPRL based at Level 5, New Lister Building, Glasgow Royal Infirmary and he leads on the NHS service, research and development linked to mucosal pathogens.
