Dental Treatment in a Sick Child

With advent of newer medical treatment regimens, more patients are surviving longer and many lead fairly normal lives. Although the care of the medically compromised patients is complicated, the occurrence of such patients will increase and dental health professionals must be familiar with the recognition and prevention of problems that may arise during their dental management. 

 

Learning Outcomes

  • Provide participants the skills to elicit a thorough and relevant medical and dental history

  • Familiarize participants with the most common childhood medical ailments that may pose potential problems during dental treatment; as well as situations whereby consultations and referrals to medical providers or dental specialists are appropriate
