Prof. Ngo has extensive experience in private practice, research, and education. He was the principal of a dental practice located in the business district of Adelaide, with a staff of five, he delivered good dental care based on the philosophy of Minimal Intervention over a period of 20 years.
As an educator, he has published and lectured extensively internationally on the dental materials, minimal intervention dentistry and cariology. Over the last 15 years, he has been very active as an international speaker and has contributed to numerous major international meetings, e.g. FDI, Chicago Mid-Winter, IDEM, ADA Congress, CDA. It is estimated that his courses have attracted over 30,000 participants so far.
In research, he is active in the areas of dental materials and cariology, he was appointed Visiting Research Fellow to the Adelaide University in 1998, Research Director of the Colgate Australian Clinical Dental Research Centre, Adelaide University in 1999. In 2007, he joined the National University of Singapore as Associate Professor in the Dept. of Restorative Dentistry. He was invited to the University of Queensland as Professor and Chair of General Dental Practice in 2009. In 2012, he joined the University of Kuwait as Professor and Director of Comprehensive Dental Care. He is now Dean of the College of Dental Medicine, University of Sharjah, UAE and Executive Director of the University Dental Hospital Sharjah, a teaching hospital equipped with more than 120 chairs and a state of the art mobile clinic, servicing the elderlies living in rural parts of Sharjah.
At present, his focus in research revolves around the clinical management of caries, especially in the elderly and medically compromised patients and the interactions between the glass ionomers and the oral environment.
He has been a technical consultant to several dental organizations and was co-inventor of several dental products.
