Dr Intekhab Islam graduated from the University of North Bengal, India in 2001 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. He was awarded the NUS Research Scholarship to pursue a post graduate degree in Restorative Dentistry and obtained his MSc. in Restorative Dentistry in 2005. He went on to pursue postgraduate training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the National University of Singapore, graduating in 2008. He obtained Fellowship from the Academy of Medicine Singapore in 2011 and was admitted into the Specialist Register in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the same year.
Intekhab pursued subspecialty training in Temporomandibular Joint Reconstruction and Replacement as a National Council for Post Graduate Dental Education Scholar in Nine Wells Hospital Dundee, Scotland under the Academic Medicine Development Award awarded jointly by the National University Health System and the Ministry of Health, Singapore. He trained under Mr. Philip McLoughlin in Temporomandibular Joint Reconstruction and Facial Aesthetic procedures. He is actively involved in research pertaining to Bone Tissue Engineering and TMJ reconstruction.
Dr Intekhab is currently a Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, National University Hospital and is also an Assistant Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore. He has won numerous Faculty of Dentistry Teaching Excellence Awards and is the recipient of the NUS Annual Teaching Excellence Award.
