Dr. Feres is a periodontist, received her PhD in Oral Biology from Harvard University/Forsyth Institute (USA) and has a Post-doctoral Fellowship in Microbiology from Forsyth Institute. She is the Dean for Dental Research and Graduate Education and a full-time professor (Periodontal Department) at Guarulhos University (Brazil). Her main research field is the diagnostic and treatment of periodontal infections, with great emphasis on Randomized Clinical Trials. She has lectured extensively abroad, and has authored around 160 scientific articles. She is the President of the International Academy of Periodontology and of the Periodontal Research Group of IADR, Associate Editor of the International Dental Journal (FDI), and a member of the Editorial Board of JDR, COIR, JOP and JPR.
