Monitoring and Maintaining the Silver Wave: Longevity of Restorations in Older Patients

Once the restorative phase is completed, it is important to have an appropriate plan of monitoring and maintaining oral health. These plans depend very much on the “wellness” status of the patients, family and social support and most importantly the patient’s ability to comply. In this presentation, the role of fluorides and other chemical agents in managing oral biofilms will be discussed.

Learning Objectives:

  • To understand the role of fluoride and non-fluoride preventive products
  • To understand the role of restorative glass-ionomer cement
  • To design effective monitoring and home care regimes
