Periodontal Regeneration: Present Status and Future Outlook

Shinya Murakami is a Professor and Chairman of Department of Periodontology, Osaka University Graduate School of Dentistry, Japan.  He was the President of the Japanese Division of IADR in 2011 and also Chair of the Periodontal Research Group of IADR in 2013. He is currently the General Secretary of the Japanese Society of Periodontology and the Asian Pacific Society of Periodontology.  He also serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Periodontal Research.  His research interests are ‘Periodontal regeneration’, ‘Omic analysis of periodontal ligament’ and ‘Immunopathogenesis of periodontitis’. Professor Murakami received many awards, most notably the IADR Anthony Rizzo Periodontal Research Award, the AAP R. Earl Robinson Periodontal Regeneration Award, and the IADR/AADR William J. Gies Award.
