Canal negotiation and glide path preparation is regarded as one of the most important stages of endodontic treatment. It has a direct influence on the efficacy of subsequent procedures including root canal preparation, irrigation and obturation. The endodontic glide path is defined as a smooth, patent passage from the coronal orifice of the canal to the radiographic terminus or electronically determined portal of exit. The glide path can be prepared with hand, rotary and reciprocating instruments. Over the last few years, research has repeatedly shown that NiTi glide path instruments are capable of achieving a safe and predictable glide path in comparison to stainless steel hand files. A number of studies have also illustrated the many benefits of glide path formation, which include decreased canal aberrations and decreased risk of shaping file fracture. This presentation will discuss the clinical protocol to ensure predictable canal negotiation, highlight the advantages and disadvantages of different glide path preparation techniques and illustrate root canal preparation techniques with different systems in easy and complex cases.

Dental radiographs, including OPG, are some of the most important diagnostic tests involved in formulating a diagnosis and treatment plan. In this session you will learn how to take the highest quality dental x-rays, how to avoid simple but common mistakes, and how to review and interpret the scans to ensure accurate diagnosis. Dr Dudhia will explore cases from his 11 years of experience in dental radiology practice to share with you a wide and varied range of dental pathology diagnosed using modern imaging techniques, when clinical examinations were inconclusive. He will specifically focus on patients with orofacial and dental pain, endodontic evaluation, implant planning and orthodontics. A novel method of imaging children will also be explored. A simple method of reviewing dental x-rays and documenting key findings will also be shared, to ensure you are comfortable using dental radiographs to achieve the best treatment outcomes for your patients.

While dentists are often considered the leaders of oral healthcare, dental therapists and hygienists are well positioned to transition patients away from disease. Changing patient behavior is paramount to clinical risk reduction, and no other member of the oral healthcare team is better prepared to focus on preserving oral tissues. Modern oral health care is based on engaging patients with effective communication skills while empowering them to own their oral destiny. The days of telling patients what they need to do can be replaced with effective communication tools that allow hygienists and therapists to partner with patients and focus on what changes can be achieved. When clinicians adopt principles of psychology and focus on what matters to patients, rather than what’s the matter with patients, oral healthcare begins to replace dentistry.

The use of all‐ceramic veneers represents a valid alternative to complete crown restorations. The minimally invasive tooth preparation procedure allows the maximum preservation of healthy tooth structure thus guaranteeing the vitality and higher overall resistance of restoration. Also thanks to the undeniable advantages offered by the adhesive cementation technique. Nowadays a new clinical approach based on an innovative minimally invasive prosthetic procedure (MIPP) is also applicable to full crown restorations allowing preservation of vitality and tooth structure.

The availability of a wide range of ceramic material permits the achievement of excellent and long-lasting aesthetic results in mixed rehabilitation on implants. This prosthetic treatment workflow starts with an aesthetic and functional plan which allows an ideal integration of aesthetics, biological and functional requirements. Classical and new digital trends will be also analyzed in depth in order to reach the final goal.

Common oral hygiene instructions for patients are more or less considered as unquestionable dogmas. However, are they still based on current evidence? The aim of this lecture is to provide an overview and to evaluate the current approaches in modern biofilm control and periodontal therapy based on the current evidence. Discussed are types of mechanical and chemical approaches for daily home care as well as for the professional clinical setting. Another focus of this presentation will be the development of new treatment techniques and materials for periodontal therapy as well as the possible impact and use of food supplements to modulate patients’ immune response and treatment outcome.

Artificial intelligence is having a dramatic effect on many professions and dentistry is no exception. As an early user and a clinical speaker for Dental Monitoring, Dr. Yassmin will share with you his experiences as an early adopter of AI in dentistry.

In this session, the speaker will share with you an efficient method for reviewing CBCT scans and documenting relevant findings. He will show you various software tools that enhance CBCT scans to ensure optimal visualisation in the area(s) of interest, while clarifying which filters actually degrade image quality. A variety of pathology will be reviewed live, showcasing the techniques demonstrated during the session. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptop computer so that they can follow along. Anonymised cases will be provided for the purposes of the demonstration.
