Dr. David Fu
Dr. David Fu is a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent) Student in Special Needs Dentistry studying at the School of Dentistry, University of Queensland, Australia. He graduated his BDSc (UQ) in 2010 and is anticipating completing his DClinDent course at the end of this year.
Dr. Fu has worked at various public and private clinics in Queensland and has been principal dentist at several Queensland Health dental clinics. Dr. Fu is known to be a passionate advocate for patients with special needs and has experience in dental treatment under general anaesthetic, conscious sedation, as well treating patients in a hospital setting. Dr. Fu has supervised, for several years, dental students from both University of Queensland and Griffith University; and given lectures related to Special Needs Dentistry to undergraduates at the School of Dentistry, University of Queensland since 2018.
As part of the DClinDent programme, Dr. Fu practices at the Oral Health Centre for the Oral Health Alliance and at dental clinics attached to Caboolture, Redcliffe, Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospitals. He is part of the Special Needs Dentistry team, which participates in the management of medically complex individuals, as well as patients with intellectual and/or physical disabilities. His current research interest is in Dentistry under Conscious Sedation and General Anaesthetics, with a focus on providing patient safety and optimising referral pathways for patients with special needs.
