Kung-Rock Kwon

Prof. Kung-Rock Kwon

He was born in Daegu city, Korea, in 1961. He was undergraduate studies at the School of Dentistry, KyungHee University, Seoul, and graduated as DMD in 1987 and PhD degree in 1995. He was educated postgraduate training in Prosthodontics 1987-1990. He was Full time Clinical Professor at the Department of Prosthodontics of the KyungHee University, from 1993 to 1996. He was Visiting Associated Professor at the Department of Fixed Prosthodontics and Occlusion (chairman: Prof. U.C. Belser)., School of Dental Medicine, University of Geneva, Switzerland from 1996 to 1998, and Visiting Assistant Professor at the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Biomaterials, Implantology (chairman: Prof. H.P. Weber), School of Dental Medicine, Harvard University, USA from 2002 to 2003. He has been working as a Professor at the Department of Prosthodontics of the KyungHee University. Since April 1999. He was a Dean of School of dentistry, KyungHee Univ. from 2018 to 2020.   

He has served a leading role in various academic organizations. President of The Korean Academy of Sports Dentistry (2017-2019), President of The Korean Academy of Prosthodontics (2019-2021), President of The Korean Academy Dental Research (2021-2022), President of The Korean Academy of Implant Dentistry (2021-2023), Recently, He has been elected as a President of Korean Association of Dental Sciences since 1st May and has been leading Korea’s 38 approved dental science organizations for 3 years. And, he has been served as a Council member of International College of Prosthodontists since last year.  

As a prosthodontist, he is responsible for complete denture in under/ postgraduate education, and his clinical interest is the Treatment for edentulous patients using dental implant or conventional denture. And  his research activities in the fields of biomechanics of the implant dentistry (esp., implant supported overdenture), occlusion, and sports dentistry.
